August 15th 1649 Oliver Cromwell Arrives In Ireland with 20,000 men
His reign of terror in Ireland which lasted two and half years brought the sacking of many towns & cities, famine, plantations, plague, penal laws and the deaths of thousands of people.
Thousands more were deported and their lands were taken, yet there are some in Ireland who unbelievably believe this man was good to Ireland?
His attitude towards Irish Catholics is that they were "less than human" and that he had a God-given right to avenge by any means he deemed fit, the Irish rebellion of 1641.
After 3,000 people were massacred in Drogheda by his army he said,
"THIS IS A RIGHTEOUS JUDGEMENT OF GOD UPON THESE BARBAROUS WRETCHES, WHO HAVE IMBRUED THEIR HANDS IN SO MUCH INNOCENT BLOOD...."
